Tower Lab Tier List Hub

Demo-informed ranks for cubes and loadouts. Not an official balance patch.

Tower Lab Tier List Hub

This hub is a pre-launch ranking for Tower Lab, not a live-meta gospel. Steam Early Access is scheduled for September 7, 2026. The public demo, official videos, and playtest notes are the evidence. There is no post-launch patch to quote, and there are no hidden DPS numbers to sort. Enemies have no health. A cube is “strong” when its physics job is easy to plug into a machine, not when a tooltip shows a bigger integer.

Use two child pages. The tower tier list ranks all 20 named cubes from S to C. The cores and machines page explains player cores, Hazard Cores, five machines, traps, and utility cards without inventing proper names the store has not published. Read tower synergies before you treat either list as a shopping order.

How this ranking works

We rank by physics role and by how often the cube or loadout showed up as useful in demo and playtest footage.

  • S means the piece creates jobs for other pieces: a hold, a shove, a mass change, or a projectile scaler.
  • A means the piece is strong once a partner exists.
  • B means the piece is map-dependent or hand-dependent.
  • C means the piece is a specialist. Specialists still win inside the right machine.

We do not claim official balance. Playtest notes already moved Tesla, Salvage, and Hot Swap out of the Region 1 starting deck, and they rebalanced Gravity’s ability to capture units forever. Ranks will move after September 7, 2026. Until then, this wiki labels every table as demo-informed.

Synergies beat isolated S-tier. Fan plus Gravity is a spiral even if you never look at a letter. Shrink then Fan knocks light robots without a pit. A C-tier Imploder in a Gravity well can outperform a lonely Tesla on rubber. If a rank and a combo disagree, keep the combo.

What we are not ranking

We are not ranking DPS, because the game has none. We are not ranking “win rate” from a ladder, because Early Access has not opened. We are not inventing extra tower names. The 20 cubes are Mine, Kinetic, Pulse, Tesla, Bomb, Harpoon, Rocket, Deflector, Fan, Gravity, Bola, Cryo, Flame, Shrink, Grow, Merge, Split, Imploder, Grinder, and Constructor. Roles for each sit on the tower roster.

We are not inventing machine or player-core proper names. Shop core icons exist in demo UI, but this wiki describes roles from the store copy: starting tools, real-time abilities, run-modifying player cores, and Hazard Cores as campaign difficulty modifiers.

Demo snapshot versus Early Access targets

The demo collection snapshot showed Towers 20/20, Traps 4/4, Cores 28/28, and Machines 4/4. The Steam Early Access store copy is the launch target: 20 towers, 150+ upgrades, 26 player cores plus 14 Hazard Cores (40 cores total), 5 machines, 7 traps, 8 utility cards, and 7 physics-effect cards. When a rank talks about “the full trap row,” it means the EA target of seven, not the demo’s four.

How to use these lists in a run

In the shop, filter with letters, then buy the partner. If you hold Gravity, Fan is the purchase even when a second Gravity looks rarer. If you hold Grinder, a Conveyor plan beats a random Rocket. If copper is the region’s material, Tesla climbs. If rubber is the region’s material, Tesla falls and Deflector plus Fan climb.

In Campaign, rank the machine first, the player core second, and the cubes third. A machine is a run-defining loadout. A Hazard Core is a tax you agree to pay. Cube letters are the last filter. Mode notes live in the campaign walkthrough. First-run hands live in starter decks.

Tower Lab is single-player. There is no shared ladder to copy. Your lab is allowed to be weird. The lists on this hub exist so the Vend-O-Lab is not a coin flip, not so every operator builds the same spiral.

Open the tower tier list for the 20-cube table, then cores and machines for the loadout layer. If those two pages argue with tower synergies, the synergy wins until a post-launch patch says otherwise.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for new Tower Lab players.

Is this an official Tower Lab tier list?

No. It is a pre-launch, demo-informed ranking. Steam Early Access is scheduled for September 7, 2026. Read the method on this tier list hub, then the tower ranking.

Do synergies beat S-tier cubes?

Yes. Isolated ranks lose to machines. Fan plus Gravity, Shrink then Fan, and Tesla on copper are documented on tower synergies.

Where are cores and machines ranked?

Roles and loadout advice sit on cores and machines. This wiki does not invent proper names the store has not published.

Why are demo counts different from Steam?

The demo collection showed Towers 20/20, Traps 4/4, Cores 28/28, Machines 4/4. Early Access store counts are the launch target. See Early Access notes.

Should beginners use the tier list?

Use it as a shop filter after you know roles from the tower roster. A first run should still start with starter decks.
